Heavy rain in the days before the RV, Helicopter fly in meant there was a warning on the Real Aeroplane Club website that this event (the last scheduled for 2008) was in danger of being cancelled. Saturday was drier and due to the determination of the organisers and helpers the event was able to go ahead. The weather on the Sunday was kind and although heavy showers could be seen in the distance there was blue sky over Breighton!
There were flypasts by many of the Breighton based aircraft and seven helicopters together with a display by a BBMF spitfire in memory of Brian Brown who was a very popular pilot and Breighton airfield manager until tragically losing his life during Shoreham airshow in September 2007.

Held over the weekend on the 2/3rd of August 2008 the Aeronautical Pageant at Breighton did not attract many flying visitors due to bad weather in other parts of the country. Locally there was a mixture of showers and sunny spells with the weather slowly improving on Sunday afternoon. Highlights included a close formation flypast of the Magister, Arrow Active and Jungmeister and a visit by a former Yugoslavian Air Force Soko P-2 Kraguj.

A beautiful blue sky and light breeze meant that the Auster fly-in at Breighton was very popular with many visiting aircraft. A handful of Austers and large number of other types ensured that there was always something flying.

A note on the Real Aeroplane Company website a few days before stated "Pilots planning to fly in to the event are strongly advised to phone ahead to make sure that the runway is operational" - sadly once again the weather had conspired to make the first fly-in of the year a quiet event. There was however plenty to see including the recently aquired Bell 47 "Mash" helicopter together with a visit from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The flour bombing competition did not have many entries but still provided entertainment for the visitors. The day was generally overcast with light showers, the odd bit of blue sky and recently arrived feathered migrants hinting of the summer to come - fingers crossed then for better weather in June for the Auster Fly-In.

Held on the weekend of August 18/19th the Yorkshire Airshow 2007 at Elvington had the theme "Mighty Thunder". The original plan had been to have the Avro Vulcan as star of the show but as the team at the "Vulcan to the Sky" project had encountered delays this was not to be. Alternative plans were to have a display of 4 Hawker Hunters but the weather stepped in and only two made it although they were a magnificent sight in the sky. Low cloud base - overcast skies and rain (much worse in other parts of the country) meant that some expected aircraft could not fly up to Elvington and the flying programme was therefore reduced. Due to the efforts of the pilots though it was a good display. The Beech 18 that had accompanied the Hunters was put into a display slot and the pilot gave a fine display. The BBMF display of two spitfires and the dakota was cancelled but the O/C of the flight flew up in a Spitfire and gave a superb display. The RAF Falcons had to deal with poor conditions and a strong gust of window made them delay their drop by a few minutes but still they managed to open the flying part of the show. As rain moved in near the end of the day's flying a locally based RAF Tucano gave a very impressive display and then the Red Arrows put on a terrific low level display. The day could have so easily been a washout but due to the efforts of the display pilots it was a triumph over dreadful conditions.
